RJD2 – Technical “Mad Men”?
RJD2: Most people know RJD2′s music. Even if you are puzzled by the name you will surely recognize any re-hashed, remixed, cassette played version of the song “Ghostwriter”. How can you not? The infectious melody line will make you sing yourself to sleep, and no matter how many times you here the track, you can do nothing but smile and tap your feet: it is possibly the one and only song that no matter how many times you play or hear it, you don’t grow tired of it…
Don’t ask me why, I don’t know, but it is 100% truth. I have tried and tested this theory many a time, I have played the track in every version form at every speed and in any set, and no matter what music you’re into, or no matter what style the set has lent itself to, like a Pavlovian response, you will dance!
But beside this, RJD2 has to be counted as possibly one of the best producers of our time. Using scratches, samples, live drums, tonnes of synths, and anything else that produces a tone, he constructs emphatic melodies that combine with perfect musical harmony, lending complement to the surrounding instruments. This causes each of his tracks to have a fleshy, beating heart that can only be described as “human”. His work is simply amazing, and although you may not like all the tracks he makes, there will be those songs that you’ll pledge your full allegence to.
Although he has had not produced an album since 2007, The Third Hand, Ramble John “RJ” Krohn is set to release his latest offering “The Collosus” soon!
In light of this I found these on the internet to kind of re-kindle the flame before the fire burns strong ![]()
Here is an inside look at RJ’s house/ Studio/ Cooking ability in a 2-part interview from Motherboard.tv
And, offered by the man himself, here is the first single from his new, soon to be released, album “The Collosus“… FREE! enjoy!
