Die Antwoord :: Zef Side Music Video

There is something weird going on, there have been two new music video posts on Dont Party recently and both have been Afrikaans rappers, and most surprisingly we’ve enjoyed both. Jack Parow’s “Cooler as Ekke” has been one of the most viewed posts on Dont Party thus far, something we never would have guessed when we first posted it.

So now we have the new music video by Die Antwoord, a self described zef rap-rave crew from Cape Town South Africa

Now for those of you who are unaware who Die Antwoord is, Die Antwoord crew is Ninja (Waddy Jones), Yo-landi Vi$er and DJ Hi-Tek.

Their site has this to say, ‘Die Antwoord represents the sounds of the Zuid Afrkaanse streets. Their fierce, hi energy sound is inspired by Cape Town’s fast and furious mini-bus taxi’s you can hear coming from blocks away with an evil DOOM! DOOM! DOOM!’

“Die Antwoord is a lovable, mongrel-like entity made in Zuid Afrika, the lovechild of many diverse cultures, black, white, coloured and alien, all pumped into one wild and crazy journey down the crooked path to enlightenment”

Yeah well you know its gonna be interesting when they act in question describes itself as a lovechild of black, white, coloured and alien cultures. But thats Die Antwoord for you. They’ve also done some collaborative work with some other awesome local acts such as Francois Van Coke on one of their tracks aptly named, “Doos Dronk”.

Now about the video, it was uploaded to Youtube on December 18th, we have no idea who it was done by (if you know let us know below) we love the style of the video, so we’d love to give props to those involved, and thats about it so enjoy!

pity the name DJ Hi-Tek is a bite!

“Tony Cottrell, better known as Hi-Tek, is an American rapper and record producer from Cincinnati, Ohio. He is best known for his work with Talib Kweli on his Reflection Eternal album and on Black Star. His father is singer Willie Cottrell of the Willie Cottrell Band whom Hi-Tek featured on his second release Hi-Teknology 2.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hi-Tek)

Shot for the heads up, although to his defense it is increasingly difficult to find names that are original and not taken, in almost every industry you’ll find overlapping names and ideas. But well noticed nonetheless
