Ruth Flowers aka Mamy Rock, is the oldest thing since sliced bread (sliced bread was only 12 when she was born). The 69 year old Bristol woman has the Paris dj circuit by the balls, playing  sets comprised of rock tinged electro, and dropping occasional classics such as The Rolling Stones into the mix, as well as having her very own EP coming out in the next few months.

She was converted to club music when she visited a London nightclub with her grandson, then last year she played at an exclusive Cannes Film Festival villa party, and is now killing it at Paris’ Queen Club and is in demand at clubs nights across Europe.

The widow rocks signature shades, silver spiked hair and blinged out tracksuits (we still can’t confirm any granny panties though). She claims ‘I’d much rather go out with a bang than linger.’

I still can’t help wondering if this overnight success is purely the workings of her new found bass inclination, or yet another obscure marketing ploy? Either way, you gotta give it up for the old gal.

    My name is Colin Hawkins & I am the photographer who first dressed & styled Ruth Flowers as “bling Granny” for a Getty Images shoot in 2003. I came up with the concept of “bling granny” or “granny dj” as the project was then known. Some of the images from that shoot can be seen on my website http://www.colinhawkins.co.uk
    A few years later I was approached by Aurelien Simon who wanted to use the idea for a music video. I am not her grandson & the story Ruth is giving is false. “She was converted to club music when she visited a London nightclub with her grandson”…. yeah right!

    I just want to set the record right.
    Mister Colin Hawkins is effectively not Ruth Flowers grand son.
    He is a photographer who took images shoot of her back in 2003! Come on people 2003, 7 yeqrs ago!!!!
    When Ruth producer offer to Colin to be a part of the team and take pictures this one declined because he never believed on Ruth Flower talent.
    What is for you the most important,
    the person who has the first images shoot with Ruth as a model or the one who still believes in her talent and help her to make it happend as a DJ?

    Here, here, Miriam, I quite agree a Model in a photo is just that, actually d-jaying is something quite different.
    It sounds to me as Mr Hawkins has a case of sour grapes………..god help his other models should they end up in the limelight!!
