Guru :: Iconic Rapper Dies

Rapper GURU of Gang Starr fame has died after a long battle with cancer.

On Sunday the 28th of February Guru, real name Keith Elam aged 43, went into a coma after suffering from severe cardiac arrest due to his extenuating battle with cancer. After undergoing a successful surgery that monday the rapper was said to be on the road to a full recovery.

Solar, the rapper’s long-time producer has vouched for the 43-year-old’s recovery. “Guru is resting and doing well,” he said. “The doctors say that he will fully recover from his illness.” [guardian.co.uk]

But early yesterday morning Guru final succumbed to the illness and passed away.

Guru is best known for his work on Jazzmatazz, a hip-hop and jazz fusion project that has yielded four albums and numerous toursand for his infallible contribution to hip-hop with the duo Gang Starr.
