Banksy in Africa?
British graffiti phenomenon Banksy has done some pretty insane works all over the world, his pieces were recently seen in the States around the time of his film premiere, and have been popping up all over the place as of late. Africa has always seemed to go unnoticed by the artist, until now.
Works by the artists have begun popping up on the net, allegedly found in Mali. There have been numerous accounts by third parties such as the quote below, confirming this.
They do seem pretty legit, but with all the copycats out there you never really know. We’ll believe it when they get his stamp of approval and appear on his site, but they are still pretty awesome nonetheless.
“I’ve seen this one in the flesh. Its in the suburbs of Bamako in Mali, West Africa. Banksy was there about 4-5 months ago. Sadly this has been partially painted over, Peaches Geldoff is no more and somebody has added a flower to the collection tin. There’s also a few local tags scribbled on the same wall. There are a handful in Mali, stretching from Bamako to Timbuktu. Their locations are still unpublicised as far as I can tell.”
