Its been 2 years since  “Only by the Night’ changed not only the lives of Kings of Leon, but every rock fan around the world! It takes me back to December 2008, I had just arrived at Ox Braai and decided to do a lap around the grounds to check what was happening, see if there was anyone I knew, you know, that kind of thing…I must have heard ‘Sex on Fire’ being pumped out of about 80% of the cars I passed and although I found it fucking annoying (coz I had killed the song months before) I took note of two things; I was going to get hammered beyond all compare that night, and Kings Of Le0n had embedded their name and sound into the minds of a lot and I mean A LOT of people… The beauty of the album was that ‘Sex On Fire’ was a great song but in no ways the best! Basically the album was undeniably brilliant and its gonna be interesting to see if this new one can live up to it.

Ok, so according to DirectCurrentMusic.com, the group’s record label RCA have issued a release schedule which states the Nashville band’s fifth LP is due out on October 19. Neither the group or label have officially confirmed the date yet, although frontman Caleb Followill did recently admit they would  ”play the whole of our new album live if it was up to us“.

The as-yet untitled album will have a  “chilled out” and “beachy” feel, while the band have been  showcasing a number of new songs live including ‘Southbound’, ‘Immortals’ and ‘Radioactive’.

Kings Of Leon will embark on a tour of the US in August and September, and will also headline this year’s V Festival.
