I have to share this with you because I think it’s pretty amazing, and because I really love the stuff. I don’t think I actually know any local underwear brands other than Undercova? Talk about finding a gap. Nice. Anyway so what’s the story?
South Africa’s biggest retailer, Woolworths, is answering the demand for not naf underwear by introducing local brand Undacova Underwear into its product catalogue. Who would have thought that a young local brand could wear the mighty W on its chest after being in existence for only two years? As of today, Undacova Underwear is available at Woolworths with an exclusive menswear collection in five top stores: V&A (CPT), Canal Walk (CPT), Sandton (JHB), Eastgate (JHB), Gateway (DBN). The collection is inspired by the infectious African joie de vivre, the label founders Chris Kilchling and Percy Ndaba create youthful and fun underwear and sleepwear for the brand- and trend-conscious.
Undacova Underwear is breaking new ground by penetrating the uber-established retail environment of Woolworths. For that I applaud them. Now go out and buy some. Hopefully interview to follow soon!
