The Story Of Larry Joe.
2 years and 6 months ago, Larry Joe was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison for house breaking and theft. He recently stood in front of the parole board and has been granted early release in December 201o, this is his story.
Larry has since recorded his debut album, ‘Crazy Life’ in Douglas Prison which is set to be released the day of his release on 13 December 2010. The album contains only 5 songs but Larry has actually written over 40 original tracks in English, Afrikaans, Xhosa, Spanish and Portuguese.
I think this guy is going to big, I mean as it says in the video, he has asked to be put in solitary for the remainder of his stay to work on his songs. The intricate details of each track must be ridiculously tight, not to mention the lyrics of remorse, hope and how he wishes he could’ turn back the clock’ that he has had 3 years to write and craft. Lets be honest, If you want to really focus on your music, commit a …(you get it).
The album was produced by Aaron Turest – Swartz (founder of Freshlyground) from QCT music, with the vocals and guitar being recorded in his prison cell! All the additional recordings were done at the Digital Forest Studio in Constantia, Cape town. This top class studio has recorded top up and coming SA bands such as ‘When Karma Sleeps’ and ’12th Avenue’ and it is because of their sound quality that these bands are making big strides on the music scene in Cape Town and SA.
With talent coming from both ends, it seems destined that Larry Joe is going to take SA by storm. If you take into consideration, his past, his voice, his skill on the guitar and just the fact that he is actually a decent guy who wants to make his mom proud, well basically you’ve got a Public Relations dream.
I’m calling him SA’s James Blunt..You decide for yourself..Enjoy his new single, ‘Let you know’.
More Larry?
