Still want to know who Banksy is? 1 Million Dollars will get you that answer!
‘
A week ago I posted about an auction that promised to reveal the true identity of the one and only Banksy. In the listing, the seller states, “I have uncovered [Banksy's] identity by matching up the prices of his sold pieces to corresponding tax records. I will reveal no more details… I give you 100% assurance that it is most certainly the full name of the street artist known as ‘http://www.dontparty.co.za/tag/banksy/#mce_temp_url#.’”
Initially the auction went up and was soon taken down by Ebay who terminated his auction because he was selling an intangible good; the seller is now technically offering for auction a piece of paper containing Banksy’s legal name. Since being put back up the auction has skyrocketed to an amazing $999 999 and has recieved 38 bids with 36 hours remaining.
Its hard to tell wether this is all going to result in anything firstly is the seller for real or is it some nutjob taking the piss and secondly is the buyer for real or is it someone deliberately making false bids to end the auction. It will be interesting to see what transpires from the whole thing. There are a lot of publications, newspapers and magazines who would be willing to pay large amounts of money for the information but a million dollars for an unsubstaniated claim sounds a bit extreme.
Thoughts?
