LCD SOUNDSYSTEM ANNOUNCES LAST GIG EVER

LCD+Soundsystem+James+Murphy LCD SOUNDSYSTEM ANNOUNCES LAST GIG EVER

After 6 albums and countless singles and collaborations, LCD Soundsystem have announced that they will be playing their last gig ever at Madison Square Garden in New York City on April 2nd, and thereafter they will not record or perform any further.

Here’s what they had to say:

good people of earth:
lcd soundsystem are playing madison square garden on april 2nd, and it will be our last show ever. we are retiring from the game. gettin’ out. movin’
on. but for just one more night, we will be playing with friends and family for nearly 3 hours–playing stuff we’ve never played before and going out with a bang. and we’d like you to be there.

It is indeed a sad day that James Murphy, the somewhat one-man band responsible for tracks as influential as “Daft Punk is Playing at My House”, “I Can Change”, “Tribulations” and “Drunk Girls” and who collaborated on stage with artists such as Hot Chip, The Juan Maclean and Hercules & Love Affair, is ready to throw in the towel. This time I just hope that its a sly publicity stunt that so many artists have pulled over the years – although somehow I have my doubts icon sad LCD SOUNDSYSTEM ANNOUNCES LAST GIG EVER
