Kings of Leon :: Talihina Sky; Their Documentary

After last week there have been many mixed reviews about the performance of the Kings of Leon in Cape Town and Jozi. I attended the concert, but found their performance lack-lustered. You can see and feel that they don’t like their own music – it’s not a secret, they openly confess to this – but it was pretty cool to see them in SA.

What fascinates me about them is their past. They come from the deep South. America’s bible-bashing, cousin-kissing impoverished desert of life. Their attitude mimics Kurt Cobain in a sense that they make incredible music, so gifted are they that it is almost supernatural, but they also seem to have a morbid attitude that makes their presence dark.

Talihina Sky is their story.

I watched this a few nights ago. Don’t get me wrong I love the band, but the people they grew up around scare the shit out of me.

yeah , i agree, but i don’t agree with the author of this story, i don’t think they hate their music, i did not get this when i watched the doccie, i went to the concert and sure the performance was nothing to scream home about , but i was glad i got to hear the band live,it was amazing , apart from the douche bags in the crowd, who did want people to dance…

hmmm, well in Jozi you could def get the vibe that they didnt want to play Sex on Fire! But otherwise I think that gave 100% to the performance that they want to give. They are not gonna be like Coldplay and ask you to do a Mexican Wave with you cellphones! they just want you to enjoy your time and their music!
