Hailing from Isreal, BLiSS (aka Yonatan Macrow) is a genuine world-traveller, cooking up dancefloors from Mexico to Japan with his unique brand of tough psy-harmonic madness. Yonatan’s entrance into the rapidly evolving world of psytrance was his acclaimed 2005 debut, The Rhythmus Gene on Phantasm Records. This was followed by Looney Bin in 2008, Fast Forward (a collaboration with Painkiller’s Roy Engel under the A-Team moniker) in the same year, Round 1 (a collaboration with Azax Syndrome) in 2009 and 145 Street (another Painkiller release) in 2010. Despite this impressive album discography, Yonatan prefers to develop and expand his repertoire through single-track releases, collaborations and productions with the likes of Sirius Isness, CPU, Absolum, Psysex, Atomic-Pulse and Loud. Bliss’ first (and fondly remembered) visit to SA was in October 2008 when he Trooped the Groove with flying colours! Catch him outdoing his first performance at this year’s Mandala Project!
Motion Drive is Philip Guillaume, 28 year old progressive artist hailing from Switzerland. A festival favourite who’s wowed crowds at Voov, Fusion, Antaris and Ozora with his unique progressive style that fuses psy, techno and house rhythms. To date, he has released three psytrance albums (under the monikers Rumble Pack and Blue Vortex) and a much acclaimed progressive album, In the Dirt (2010). Tracks of his have appeared on big labels like Iboga, Iono Music, Spintwist, Blue Tunes and Domo and he’s remixed the likes of Perfect Stranger, Ace Ventura and Emok/Maelstrom. He has also collaborated with prog legends Behind Blue Eyes, Zen Mechanics, Time in Motion and Dualism. Recently he released a highly acclaimed EP on Iboga records called Spring Thing. 2011’s Mandala Project will be his first appearance in South Africa – and your chance to discover what all the fuss has been about!
Female Dj’s are sadly rare, so it’s with some pleasure and pride that the Groovy Troopers welcome Portugal’s Dj Ganeisha (Raquel Espanhol) onto the Mandala roster! Since 2003 she has been sharing decks with the likes of Logic Bomb, Astral Projection, Talamasca, Absolum, Azax Syndrom, Sirius Isness, Bliss, Tickets, Visual Paradox, Perplex, and many others luminaries. Hailed on the European party scene for her unique style and ability to read the crowd, her versatile sets are unique and body-rocking! Her dj sets tend to favour artists from labels such as Nexus Media, Timecode, Yabai , 3d vision and Nutek, but she always has a few surprises up her sleeve! This year’s Mandala Project will see her doing what she does best – Trooping the Groove!
11 years into his DJing career, Dillan M is no stranger to the international psytrance circuit. He has played in parties from Miami to London and has hosted a World Dance Fm radio show. With work in the pipeline on a solo project and a collaboration (with producer Octoclutch), Dillan is signed to Free-Spirit records. Having shared decks with the likes of Rinkadink, Hujaboy, Burn In Noise, Shane Gobi, M-theory and Sinewave, Dillan knows how to cook up a psytrance storm and deliver the goods! Catch him debuting some of his new material and dj-ing some of the best new tunes from the international circuit at 2011’s Mandala Project

Wow, my love for trance parties is unreal… in-fact, trance parties are unreal… The feeling you get when you raise your arms to the speakers, smiling uncontrollably and the feeling rises up through your chest and into your fingers… and the beat drops. Feet are moving, they begin to stomp and suddenly you become one with the music. The only things you see are happy faces – feeling the same way you do. All I can say is that I have missed my favourite SA DJ (Bruce) at the past 2 parties due to finishing off my degree. At both of those parties, Bruce played one of my favourite songs: Bliss- Warriors.
Now this weekend, I am finished with varshitty and Bliss will be playing! 7-8 on Sunday morning is basically what is keeping me sane (and by that I mean insane).
A free ticket would help my cause, but I’m not going to spin some bullshit story like I’m not going to make it if I don’t get the ticket; I will be there regardless and I hope everyone else will be too!
