South African photographers Pieter Hugo and Michael Cleary have won a Young Director Award with their video for Spoek Mathambo’s, “She’s Lost Control.” It’s a major scoop for two amazing South African creatives, the award makes up part of the Cannes Lions Festival that honours the work of creatives in the world of media, advertising and digital communication. Check out the second trailer for the much-anticipated prequel to the franchise, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, starring James Franco. Unlike the Apes films that came before, Rise won’t rely on costumes and prosthetics to create its primates, but instead will use the groundbreaking performance-capture technology developed for Avatar. It could certainly be one to watch!

Die Antwoord, the local Zef-Rap crew that everyone loves to hate has released their short film directed by Kids writer, Harmony Korine. The film is titled “Umshini Wam” and stars Die Antwoord’s Ninja and Yo-Landi and it premiered today at SXSW. Check it out after the jump!

Last year Daft Punk created the soundtrack for the film Tron: Legacy. On April 5, Walt Disney Records will release a remix album, entitled Tron: Legacy R3CONFIGUR3D, which features some pretty big names such as Boys Noize, M83, Moby, Paul Oakenfold, Kaskade and a whole bunch more.
