It is genre bending electronica that the man himself describes as party techno. It is a supreme follow up to the 2007 debut, ‘Oi oi oi’. It may not be as catchy as its predecessor but the the artist’s growth is prevalent, and the intricate clips and tweaks don’t go unnoticed.

Notable bangers include ‘Starter’, which is guaranteed to start riots. Its swirling siren bass instills a sense of temporary madness as it wizzes and whirls around you with immense force. ‘Jeffer’, the most clubby tune on the disk, is as creepy as it is cute, its disco weirdness comes across in a motherload of squeaks and squishy acid synths, delightful. Towards the end, ‘Sweet Light’ is tinged in the kind French electro we have learned to love over the past few years. It takes you on a bipolar emotional rollercoaster through attitude, euphoria and melancholy, and finally ‘Heart Attack’, with its eerie downtempo futurism, concludes the tale by putting you softly back on Earth wondering what the hell happened.

On the whole the album is the kind of thing we have come to expect from Boys Noize, freshness beyond comprehension, rough and raw beats but still maintaining melody and fluidity, and best of all, refinement, although it is something of an oxymoron given the brash climate of ‘Power’. With two top albums, one of the most exciting labels of the year thus far and the award for Beatport’s best indie dance artist of 2009, Boys Noize is proving to be serious contender for top post. We like him even more since the man proved he isn’t just another computer dork, when he recently played his entire Radio 1 essential mix on vinyl. Booom.

<br
